Welcome California State Varmint Callers Association

Varmint hunting has been enjoyed for many years. Not only does it hone a sportsman's skill, but helps the environment, and conserves wild live. Coyotes, once only found in the southwestern United States, now range virtually the entire country. Why is this? Humans have seen the wolf as a danger to livestock, and have exterminated them. The wolf was the main predator of the coyote, and with the wolf gone, so was the natural means of controlling the coyote population. Too many coyotes are a danger to the many species they prey upon. The sportsman has basically replaced the wolf as a means to keep the coyote numbers down.
